There’s no better way to start 2018 than by discovering this gem of an EP. Los Angeles based singer-songwriter Malia dropped this in late 2017 after a successful year of touring and alluring in her fan base with singles such as ‘Dirty Laundry’ and ‘Simple Things’.
This collection of tracks highlights the talents of Malia using interesting basslines and tight guitar accompaniments. ‘Late Bloomers’ shows true soul influences in the chord extensions and vocal arrangements whilst having a back-bone of strong R&B beats driving it.
The production of this EP is complex enough to create a silky, seductive atmosphere whilst simultaneously feels very minimal as the song-writing and mature lyrics is what the listener focusses in on.
The intimate vocals presented in ‘Naked’ is something you cannot teach, and in combination with the smooth electric guitar, it can send shivers down your neck. This EP could not get much sexier if it tried.
If you’re getting down and dirty with someone – whack this bad boy on, you won’t regret it.
